Hello from Vancouver Island

Hello! Well, we made it! Scott and I sold the house in West Seattle, and moved ourselves up over the northern border and onto Vancouver Island. We live in a ruralish community between Nanaimo and Victoria and are extraordinarily grateful to be here. Both in Canada, and out of the city - closer to nature. I didn’t take the picture above, but this view is shockingly easy to come by out here.

We are currently renting until we can find property that can hold the kind of ceremony we are called to lead. In the meantime, I have resumed sitting with people in ceremony - both north and south of the border - and starting to create the kind of sanctuary that will give those who do come on island to visit some peace and respite.

While I have moved out of the disorder that is the current State of the Union, most of my community including 2 of my 3 kids still live in the U.S. and I am constantly dwelling on the well-being of those I love. Amoungst all the chaos and fear and anxiety, I do think one form of effective protest is to laugh, to love, to stay connected to our hearts.

In that vein, I wanted to start my newsletter with this missive to provide a way to remember the reason you and I first (or eventually) started to work together and to forward that exploration. I’ve included a link below to my favorite podcast The Emerald that speaks about trance states, their importance, and what happens to a society when they become prohibited.
